At the heart of Rocco’s Italian Kitchen is Cathy Chis—a former electrical engineer and defense contractor turned restaurateur with a lifelong passion for food, wine, and creating unforgettable experiences. After years of building a successful power electronics manufacturing firm, Cathy followed her heart into the world of hospitality, inspired by her Italian roots, her late husband Mihai’s deep love of wine and their shared adventures through Europe.
Inspired by Italy, Rooted in Tradition
Cathy’s Italian heritage and extensive travels through Italy and shaped the spirit of Rocco’s. From hiking the vineyards of Cinque Terre to savoring the culinary traditions of Tuscany and the Amalfi Coast, Cathy drew inspiration that lives on in the restaurant’s atmosphere and menu. Inside, guests are surrounded by scenes of Italy, along with images of legendary actors from The Godfather a tribute to Italian-American culture and cinematic heritage that sets the tone for a rich experience.
Bradenton’s Go-To for Italian Comfort & Class
Rocco’s Italian Kitchen opened its doors in Bradenton a few days after hurricane Helene in 2024, and quickly became a neighborhood favorite. Along with Executive Chef William Barrera, Cathy curates menus that blend fresh ingredients, house-made sauces, and regional Italian inspirations. Guests enjoy everything from your favorites like spaghetti and meatballs, chicken parmigiana or piccata, veal and seafood dishes to exceptional pizza, all with elegant wine pairings and crafted with care.

And the community has taken notice—after just seven months, Rocco’s was honored with the Best Newcomer award in the Bradenton’s Best contest, sponsored by the Bradenton Herald. It’s a recognition that reflects both the quality of the food and the heartfelt connection Cathy and her team have built with their guests.
